Happy travelling to everyone. Please take care
and if you are travelling overseas please remember to send in the
Overseas Travel Agreement before you leave.
Sydney
Lunch
On 3 October the Sydney students and I, along
with some of my colleagues had a yummy lunch at China Ria Malaysian
Restauran in Cockle Bay. Thanks for everyone for coming - on such a
hot day!!
Brisbane
Lunch
One week later the Brisbane/Gold Coast students
and I, along with Peace Scholarship alumni KD from Cambodia met at
South Bank Brisbane for nice lunch...despite the really long time
it took to come out!! Thanks guys...

Australian International
Education Conference
The 2008 Australian International Education
Conference co-hosted by IDP and the Australian Association of
International Education was held in Brisbane on October 7-10. The
Peace Scholarship Program had a reduced presence at the conference
this year althought the organising committee did donate $3500 to
the Program instead of giving the speakers gifts! Program Alumni
Pheakkdey Nguon (2004/05 - Cambodia) also spoke at a session on
international student experiences which was very well attended and
a great success.
Shahrnaz' Baby
Shower
On October 31st IDP hosted a baby shower for
Shahrnaz Rafi - current student from Afghanistan. The morning tea
was attended by Shahrnaz, Zohra and Haseena, as well as members and
friends of their sponsor organisation UNIFEM Australia. Yummy
sandwiches, cakes, some fun games and opening of great presents
made for an enjoyable time for all!

BABY NEWS
Congratulations to Shahrnaz Rafi (Afghanistan
08/09) and her husband Sayed on the birth of their beautiful baby
boy, Farzaad, on 16th November -

For those of you who are not on facebook or
haven't heard from someone else, I am also expecting my second
baby, due in May 2009.
